Illuminated signs and LED light-up letters
An illuminated sign keeps working after dark, which in an Irish winter is most of the trading day. We build lit letters and panels in-house, wire them with LED modules and test them in the workshop before they go up.

What we make
- Face-lit 3D letters with opal acrylic faces
- Halo-lit (back-lit) metal letters
- Edge-lit engraved acrylic signs
- LED neon flex signs on clear acrylic
- Light boxes, single or double sided
- Trough-lit and spot-lit fascia boards
Face-lit, halo-lit or edge-lit?
Face-lit letters have LED modules inside and a translucent acrylic face, so the whole letter glows. Halo-lit letters have an opaque metal or acrylic face and the LEDs shine backwards onto the wall, which draws a soft outline of light around each letter. Edge-lit signs feed light into the edge of clear acrylic so that engraved or cut detail lights up. Each suits a different building and budget, and we will recommend one when we see the site.
Power and controls
Signs run on low-voltage LED with a separate driver. We can add a timer or photocell so the sign switches on at dusk, and we arrange connection to a supply provided by your electrician.
Areas we cover
We are based in Ballinora, Co. Cork, and regularly work in Cork city, Ballincollig, Ballinora, Bishopstown, Douglas, Carrigaline, Blarney, Glanmire, Midleton, Cobh, Kinsale, Bandon, Macroom, Mallow and Youghal. Our own team also installs anywhere else in Ireland.
Questions
What is a halo-lit sign?
A halo-lit or back-lit sign has an opaque face with LEDs pointing back at the wall, so each letter is outlined by a glow of light behind it. It is a popular, understated look for offices, gyms and premium retail.
Are LED signs expensive to run?
LED signage uses far less power than older neon or fluorescent signs. Running cost depends on the size of the sign and how many hours it is lit; a timer or photocell keeps it to the hours you need.
Do you install illuminated signs outside Cork?
Yes. We make every sign in our Ballinora workshop and our own team installs anywhere in Ireland.
