Shop signs and shopfront signage in Cork

A shopfront sign is the one piece of marketing that works every hour your premises exists. We design it, build it in our own workshop in Ballinora and fit it ourselves, so one team is responsible from the first drawing to the last fixing.

What goes into a good shop sign

Most shopfronts combine a fascia panel, lettering and lighting. The panel is usually 3 mm or 4 mm aluminium composite, which stays flat and does not rot. Letters can be cut from acrylic, PVC foam, aluminium or stainless steel, either flat or built up with returns for depth. Lighting is either built into the letters, washed onto the fascia with trough lights, or provided by a light box.

Planning and conservation areas

Many shop signs in Ireland need planning permission, especially illuminated or projecting signs and signs on protected structures. We supply scaled drawings and photo mock-ups of the sign on your building to support an application to Cork City Council, Cork County Council or your own local authority.

Questions

How much does a shop sign cost in Cork?

Every shop sign is quoted individually because size, materials, lighting and access change the price a lot. A flat printed fascia costs far less than illuminated built-up letters. Tell us roughly what you need and your budget in the project builder and we will send a written quote.

Do I need planning permission for a shop sign?

Often, yes. Signs on business premises in Ireland are controlled under the Planning and Development Regulations 2001, and illuminated signs, projecting signs and signs on protected structures usually need permission. Check with your local council first; we can provide drawings and mock-ups for the application.

Can you remove my old sign?

Yes. We take down and dispose of the old sign and make good the fascia before fitting the new one.
